Fantastic! This is an original Carson City Mint canvas coin bag, likely for dollars given the coin imprints visible on the lower portion of the bag. Black lettering: U.S. MINT / CARSON CITY / NEVADA. Measures approx. 19.5 x 13" Nicely framed and presented. Probably less than a dozen of these are known. Comes with an 8 x 10" modern copy of a 19th century photograph of the Mint. If you are a collector of Carson City Mint coins, you need this bag to complete your collection! The Mint opened in 1870. It operated 1870 until 1885, then resumed again from 1889-1893. The building later served as the US Assay Office. Coins with the "CC" mark are highly sought-after. The mint used silver from the nearby Comstock Lode mining district.
