Original Acrylic ''Playing Dead'' by Judy Savarese, gallery wrapped canvas, measures 11''H x 14''W, another great piece in her ''Happy Birds'' Series, features predatory bird flying overhead and one of the Happy Birds playing dead, Judy was born and raised in the ''Bootheel'' of New Mexico amid the Chihuahuan desert. The desert has been her inspiration in many of her paintings. The desolate alkali flats are home to many desert animals. Gambel's quail are one of her favorites to paint as they are survivors of the arid environment. The artist is self taught, has won numerous awards and has shown and sold in galleries in Silver City, N.M. and Texas. Signed on lower left. This painting shows her influence from the bright colors of the southwest and the indigenous birds and animals of the desert and the designs of the ancients who were there hundreds of years ago.
