Framed Original Acrylic Painting Apache Gaan Dancer J D Medina (José de la Cruz Medina). This large painting on stretched canvas is of an Apache Gan Dancer and measures 17.5''W x 25.5''H. It is in a wood frame. J. D. Medina attended the Santa Fe Indian School from 1949 to 1953, after the departure of Dorothy Dunn and during the tenure of Geronima Montoya. From there he attended the Institute of American Indian Arts. He served in the Marine Corps then returned to New Mexico and lived at the pueblo. He continued painting easel paintings and acrylic paintings on pottery of boldly colored dancers, Koshares, Indian women, and natural scenery. His eagle dancers are among the most attractive ever to be painted on pottery.
