(Disneyland, 1955) Tomorrowland was the last land to be developed, and with construction starting only 6 months before the opening of the park, Art Director Gabriel Scognamillo had his hands full dealing with potential sponsors and overseeing the look of the land. With a budget that had been eaten-up by the other lands, the entryway or portal to the land was one of the last things to be decided upon. These two early concepts place a large fountain at the entrance. The idea of a large impressive entryway is emphasized with these drawings, but with time and budget running out, the 15-foot tall Clock of the World became the portal to Tomorrowland. Accomplished in ink and graphite on untrimmed 10”x12” animation paper, the concepts are in very good condition with only minor wear.
