Original 1860 Henry Rifle Martially marked with documentation as being issued to Private George Zellers, Co. K. 3rd Veteran Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Zeller’s service record is included and he ended the war stationed in the Defense of Washington D.C. A Springfield research service letter signed by Chief Researcher Charles Pate is included along with a copy of “The Historic Henry Rifle” by Wiley Sword where it is listed by serial number. Physical Description: Serial #3220, 44 Henry Rimfire Cal. showing Martial Inspections on right breech of bbl C.C. G., H.H. and P. No cartouche visible on butt stock, all other features as standard issue on this rifle. Condition: The Henry remains in original good to very good condition with bbl showing a rich brown patina finish with faint hints of blue mixed in the brown. The markings are sharp, the edges are good, there is some erosion, pin prick pitting, dings on edges and mars, along with a serious deep dings half way down the bbl on top flat that extend ¾ “ to 1” and show some slight cleaning in that area, otherwise bbl is good to very good overall. The frame shows a ‘Honey Colored” Natural Patina with some minor scratches and marks on edges of side plates. The stock shows a period repair to the front top edge of comb where an approx. 1 ¼ x ¾” piece of wood has been expertly spliced in. The stock is otherwise good showing some dings, mars, etc. and is undersized against the metal from being sanded when this old repair was accomplished. An original non-standard rod is included which shows an interesting improvement to the end for holding patch. All major component parts match i.e. bbl, frame, stock and buttplate. A Veteran of the Civil War with Great Documentation which is in Authentic as carried and used condition with period repair. Est. $35,000-70,000
