Self-portrait sketch drawn by world-famous Italian opera singer Enrico Caruso. Caruso has inscribed the drawing in Italian, ''Dear Felipe, send me the precise address. Thank you for your postcard...Greetings to you and R...Caruso''. Best known for his signature role as Canio in ''Pagliacci,'' Caruso was also a pioneer in recorded sound, selling a million records at the dawn of the medium. More obscure was his passion for visual art, particularly caricatures, a medium he became quite accomplished at over his lifetime. Portrait measures 4.5'' x 3.5'', taped to a white mat to an overall size of 7.25'' x 4.75''. Minor toning and smudging, else near fine.
