Partly-printed DS, one page, 13.5 x 8.5, September 1, 1876. Bond for $1000 issued by the Old Colony Rail Road Company, signed in ink by Onslow Stearns as president and countersigned by Uriel Crocker as a member of the finance committee. The certificate features a vivid green border and fine vignette of a railroad scene. In fine condition, with a roughly clipped bottom edge and some marginal staining. Onslow Stearns (1810–1878) was a businessman and politician who served as governor of New Hampshire from 1869 to 1871. Uriel Crocker (1796–1887) was a noted Boston-based publisher, railway organizer, and philanthropist.
