One of a Kind Custom Shop Special Order Master Engraver Dennis Kies Engraved Recreation of the Teddy
This beautiful revolver is an exact recreation of a Colt Single Action revolver commissioned for Teddy Roosevelt. This revolver was engraved by Master Engraver Dennis Kies and features floral scroll and stippled background engraving on the sides of the barrel, frame, cylinder flats and forward portion of the trigger guard. The sides of the top strap have a feather design, a shell design on the loading gate and geometric designs on the backstrap and trigger guard with double scallop bordering. The left side recoil shield has a fancy intertwined "TR". The ejector housing, cylinder and hammer are gold plated, and the remaining parts are nickel. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address bordered by a decorative line design, the left side is marked "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .44-40" in a panel and the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent dates. The revolver is fitted with a one piece ivory grip with a relief carved buffalo head on the left side and relief carved fancy intertwined "TR" on the right. The consignors notes state that while he was at a Colt Collector's Convention he was told by Joseph Canali and Dennis Kies that this revolver is identical to one given to Tom Selleck (the only difference "TS" on the grip instead of "TR") by the Colt Collector's Association in appreciation for the work/narration that he did when the Colt Show was in the Buffalo Bill Museum in Jackson, Wyoming and that neither recall ever seeing another Teddy Roosevelt ordered through the Colt Custom Shop. Complete with a blue Colt Custom Shop box and plain white outer sleeve numbered to the gun.
