1) Red Cross hewer, 10 1/2" blunt tip sawback blade with Geschutz maker's mark on the left ricasso, nickel guard and pommel. With smooth/ checkered grips and green and silver portapee with acorn. Black enamel sheath, with leather frog. 2) Designed and introduced in 1937, this style of hewer became the standard officer sidearm for the Reichsarbertsdienst (Reichs Work Service), with the 1934 pattern becoming a NCO sidearm. Blade is 10 1/4" long, with thin single fullers, scimitar-like front clip, Alcoso maker's mark and acid etched "Arbeit adelt" (Work ennobles) slogan on the right side. Alloy dual quillion cross guard with "spade and grain" RAD logo on the right, smooth imitation ivory grip panels and detailed eagle head pommel. Nickel finished sheath, with pebbled center panel bordered by shoots of grain and overlapping scroll at the throat.
