Fantastic collection of eight DSs signed by the stars of the 1959 film On the Beach, including: a lengthy employment agreement for Gregory Peck to act “in the role of Commander Dwight Towers in…‘On the Beach,’” signed four times by Peck; three two-page onionskin documents related to Peck’s employment, each signed by Peck; a lengthy employment agreement for Fred Astaire to appear “in the role of Julian Osborn,” signed at the conclusion by Astaire and initialed several times throughout; two documents related to Anthony Perkins’s portrayal of “the role of the ‘Lieutenant,’” each signed at the conclusion by Perkins; and a lengthy employment agreement for Ava Gardner to “portray the role of Beryl Davidson,” signed at the conclusion by Gardner and initialed several times throughout. In overall very good to fine condition. Accompanied by one additional unsigned document related to Perkins’s role and a cover sheet listing various documents. Based on Nevil Shute's 1957 novel, On the Beach envisioned a nuclear war and its aftermath. Despite its critical acclaim, the film recorded a loss at the box office—certainly due in part to the high pay of its star-studded cast. A wonderful collection connecting these four actors and one of the most famous pieces of fiction of the Cold War era.
