Omega Golfers Engraved Pocket Watch
Omega "Golfers" Engraved Square Case Open Face Pocket Watch Circa 1900. The square (1.875") shape of this fine watch allows its use as either a pocket watch or, with the back open, a small table clock. The back is round and depicts a turn-of-the-century golfing scene with a gentleman in the foreground, dressed in his best plus fours, addressing the ball. Looking on in the background are four other golfers- two young ladies in their long skirts and hats as well as two additional gentlemen. This back opens to a metal cover over the movement stating "Omega" and "Grand Prix Paris 1906" along with depictions of several of the awards this legendary watch company has won. The Arabic-numeraled dial features the "Omega" name and Greek-letter logo at the top with "Swiss Made" just below the sunken seconds dial at the 6:00 position. Around the outside of the main dial are smaller red numerals counting the minutes in five-minute intervals. The watch is crown-wound and set and is currently keeping perfect time (as Omegas are known to do). Condition is fine with some wear to the case.

Founded in 1848 at La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland by Louis Brandt, Omega is possibly the best-known watch brand in the world. Among the company's many achievements is that Omegas were the first (and only) watches to be worn on the moon! The respect you receive from others at the "nineteenth hole" as you casually check the time on your antique Omega golfer's watch will be worth anything you bid on this lot.
