Omaha Woman's Sewing Bag
Circa 1865
Length 8 in. Width 11 3/4 in.

This rectangular shaped bag is made of native tanned buffalo hide with the hair attached. Bags of this type were commonly used by women to store their sewing tools and materials. This example is beaded along each side with seed beads and across the scalloped cover flap in pony beads. It is a fine example from the pre-reservation era.
