Olmec Stone Scepter or Staff, c. 2400 years old. Carved of vesicular basalt w/remnants of cinnabar, this item measures 14" x 4" and weighs 8.75 pounds. It is an olmec transformation piece, with the figure transforming into a Jaguar. At one time it had inlay in cheeks, and has a cleft head. From Las Bocas, Mexico. Includes receipt from 1971 sale.
