(Disney, 1935) Ollie Johnston’s first Walt Disney Productions employee identification card. Long before he became one of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men," Johnston began his career at the Studio as an apprentice animator. Throughout his career, he worked as an animator and directing animator on more than 20 feature films, including “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Fantasia,” “Cinderella,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Lady and the Tramp,” and “Sleeping Beauty.” After his time at the Disney Studio, Johnston co-authored the book The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation, which introduced the 12 Principles of Animation that are still used by animators today. This identification card, issued on his first day of employment, symbolizes the beginning of a 43-year career for a Disney Legend and one of the most important animators in the history of the medium. Measuring 2.5” x 3.5”, the card is in good condition with light edge wear and creasing, and light discoloration from age.
