Mourgue's Bouloum chaise had several incarnations. The 1967 prototypes were made of plywood and plaster, while a limited edition of twenty made of tubular steel and black fabric were created for the French pavilion at the Osaka International Expo, Japan of 1970. In 1968 the French company Airborne put the commercial model in production covered in foam and fabric. A limited edition made of fiberglass and resin for outdoor use was produced in 1971 and distributed in the U.S. by the George Tanier Company. This rare example comes from the original 1971 production.
