Oliver Wolcott, Jr. Letter Signed As United States Treasurer “Oliv. Wolcott”. One page, 7.75” x 10”, Washington , July 3, 1795, to Robert Purviance, collector of customs, altimore . Wolcott writes of a contract drawn up at the War Department: “There can be no doubt I presume that a conveyance to the “United States of America” as grantees would be valid - and as all conveyances of the like nature have been hitherto taken in this manner, it is advisable that the same course should be pursued unless solid objections exist with which I am not acquainted.” The letter has been taped by the top margin into a paper folder. The letter exhibits some toning at the folds, else is in very good condition. Ex. Henry E.
