Pay order issued to Treasurer John Lawrence, in full: “Pay Capt: Abraham Mead, as Pay Master of his own Company now to be rais’d, Five Hundred & Eighty pounds, & charge the Colony.” Also endorsed on the reverse by Lt. Col. John Mead, a commander at the Battle of Harlem Heights. In fine condition. A desirable example dating to just two weeks before July 4, 1776.
