Revolutionary War–dated ADS, signed “O. Ellsworth,” one page, 8.25 x 6.75, June 7, 1776. Pay order submitted to Treasurer John Lawrence of Connecticut. In part. “Pay Mr. James Porter four Shillings & Ten pence for Victualling Sundry Persons transporting Continental Powder.” In fine condition, with expected document wear. An appealing example given its 1776 date and mention of “Continental Powder,” referring to gun powder specifically marked for the Continental Army.
