War-dated manuscript DS, signed “O. Ellsworth,” one page both sides, 8.25 x 6.75, April 19, 1776. Ellsworth orders payment of four pounds three shillings and eight pence to Ebenezer Simmons, a soldier in General Spencer’s regiment, for the expense of his son’s sickness. In very good condition, with two vertical folds, both with some separation, light uniform toning, paper loss to the left edge, and some show-through from docketing on the reverse. Dated April 19, 1776, this document was written on the one year anniversary of the start of the Revolutionary War.
