Oleg Kudryashov (b. 1932), Abstract (Plate no. 2367), 1995
This work by the Russian artist Oleg Kudryashov originated in 1995. It is an aquatint etching, printed in rich sepia tones, which is issued in an edition of 45 copies. Our copy is the second print, which was further processed with the technique of monotyping. Monotyping, in its meaning ‘a single image’, produces an original print; the transparent wash over the print cannot be reproduced as in the conventional printing processes. This unique print follows the style of abstract expressionism, depicting a composition full of spontaneity with a delicate, transparent white monotype.

The work is inscribed with pencil in Cyrillic and dated ‘95’ as well as numbered ‘2/45’ and ‘2367’. The sheet is mounted on the reverse at several points (reversible) and is overall slightly wavy, otherwise in very good condition. The sheet measures 78 x 106 cm. The framed dimensions are 95 x 125 cm. The frame shows slight signs of wear.
