1908 - This is a lot four black and white photos taken in the mid 19th century and the early 20th century. Scenes include a panoramic birds eye view of Reno in 1908. This photo was taken by George Lawrence utilizing his famous "Captive Airship" process, a method utilizing a kite set-up and stabilizer. He had used the process shortly after the 1906 Earthquake in San Francisco. His photos were seen worldwide and are still considered as the consummate depiction of the devastation that took place on that April morning. The photo measures 13.5" x 5.5" and there are two small scraps and some soiling on the right side. Also included is a photo postcard with the heading "Burning of the Largest Gambling House in the State" in 1909.

Also included is a street scene photo dated 1907. last, but certainly not least, is a carte devista of a young soldier posing with his rifle. The heading reads "E.P. Butler, Reno Nev."

All four photos are in sharp focus. Nice group. -61858
