A VERY RARE PORCELAIN DINNER PLATE - FACTORY OF ANDRE-MARIE LEBOEUF, RUE THIROUX, PARIS c. 1780 1790.

Beautiful late 18th century Louis XVI style Old Paris Porcelain dinner plate by French Queen Marie Antoinette's Parisian porcelain factory on the rue Thiroux in Paris.
The factory was at the time under the patronage of Queen Marie Antoinette following an altercation between Leboeuf and the celebrated Sevres factory who resented the production of this exquisite porcelain which rivaled their own.
The Queen encouraged Leboeuf in the production of fine porcelain by ordering china for her dairy at Versailles and as presents for favored friends. Subsequently, Leboeuf's china became known as "Porcelaine de la Reine".
The plate is hand painted in the fashionable floral sprays decor. It has a scalloped rim with gold gilt saw tooth details. The plate is marked with the Crowned A in iron red. Condition: Measures 9-1/2 inches

As of 1770, a large number of porcelain factories were set up in the capital. In order to avoid the royal privileges that banned production outside the Royal Manufactories (Sèvres, Vincennes, etc) and to have the right to produce, factories placed themselves under the protection of leading personalities (Comte de Provence, Comte d?Artois, Duc d?Orléans, and others).
As for Marie Antoinette, from 1776, she protected André Marie Leboeuf, established in Rue Thiroux, which later became what was known as the Manufacture de de la Reine
