This painting by an unknown Dutch artist originated in the second half of the 18th century. Depicted is an Arcadian landscape with a farm and a herd of cattle crossing a river in a southern landscape. The peaceful evening atmosphere is emphasized by the warm twilight and the circling flock of birds over the valley.



The canvas of the painting was mounted on a new stretcher frame. There are a few touch-ups in the upper half of the image, concentrating in the corners and a few occasional touch-ups in the lower section. The surface shows slight craquelure. Few stronger abrasion of the colors in the right area of the sky. The image size is 56 x 70.5 cm, the framed dimensions are 70 x 83 cm. The frame also shows signs of wear. (cru)
