This oil painting by an unknown monogramist depicts a romantic landscape, which is bathed in a soft evening glow. A man and a woman have settled on the riverbank to rest. Due to the figure staffage the intensity and width of the romantic almost idealized landscape becomes additionally clarified.
The painting is monogrammed ‘S. N. T’ and is in an age-appropriate condition. The canvas is laid down on cardboard. The surface shows some craquelure and damages in the right and left landscape area. The cardboard measures 33 x 41 cm. The framed dimensions are 46 x 54 cm. The frame also shows slight signs of use.
