Oversized original 19th century mounted albumen print, 12.75 x 13.5, showing early oil drilling, and affixed to its original 16 x 12 mount. Photo shows six early wooden oil derricks, with multiple tree stumps present in the foreground, obviously a result of the construction. Detailed and clear early oil image with minor foxing. The mount has general wear including toning on the front edges and heavy toning to the blank back. An early depiction of the quick actions necessary to cash in on the oil boom.
