Ohio 63rd Volunteer Infantry Archive. About 60 documents, letters, reports, passes, and records of the war years. A representative group showing trials and tribulations of a Civil War unit at war, scores of soldiers named. Documents include: voluntary enlistment, general hospital reports on wounded, furlough, unfit for duty, special service, transportation passes from Cincinnati to Louisville, and to front lines in Nashville, with names of individual soldiers, death notice, equipment reports, with three for musicians (privates), pay receipts, covers, impressive Jan. 1863 billhead of Orgill Bros., Memphis, listing purchase of hatchets, stone, etc., to Capt. Swain during the occupation. (Apparently "business as usual.") One of the areas in which the 63rd served was at Vicksburg. With A.D.S. of Howard Forrer, May 1, 1864, Adjutant of the 63rd, taking part in all of its operations since Sept. 1862; killed July 22, 1864 in battle in the Atlanta campaign. Including listing of about 70 pages on units of the 63rd, with soldiers' names, ranks, etc. Varied sizes, condition fair to very fine.
