Academy Award nomination certificate for the 1974 ensemble film, ''Earthquake'', which portrayed the disastrous effects of a major quake hitting Los Angeles. Certificate plaque for the 47th annual Oscars nominates acclaimed film editor Dorothy Spencer for Outstanding Achievement in the category of film editing. The film starred a cast of legendary actors including Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, George Kennedy, Lorne Greene, and more. Certificate features an illustration of the iconic Oscar statue and reads in full: ''Certificate / of / Nomination / for / Award / Be it known that / Dorothy Spencer / was nominated for an / Academy Award of Merit / for Outstanding Achievement / Film Editing / 'Earthquake' / This judgment being rendered with reference to Motion Pictures / first regularly exhibited in the Los Angeles district / during the year ending December 31, 1974.'' Signed by the Academy President, Marvin Mirisch and Secretary, Hal Elias. Certificate has been inlaid in a wooden plaque with gilt trim to an overall size of 12'' x 13.75''.
