Thomas Stothard was a painter, designer, and book illustrator who enjoyed a prolific career. He preferred to paint small-scale historical paintings. Some of his works were more monumental, including his decorative staircase at Burghley House and the dome of the Advocates? Library in Edinburgh. As an illustrator, he focused on depicting English novels and poetry.
Stothard brilliantly captures the imagination in his skillfully conceived illustration entitled ?Out of School?. His mastery of illustration brings the vibrant life to this image. The incredible realism in the picture plays with the viewer?s imagination. This very masterfully illustrated piece is complimented by a gold wooden frame that is decorated by a rope imprint that creates a childhood fantasy. The framed print measures a total of 16.75?x 17.25?. Signed at the bottom, this lithograph would be a great addition to any art enthusiast?s collection and is remarkably priced.
