OCCUPATIONAL TINTYPE OF BUTCHER c. 1850s
This tintype is of a butcher sharpening the butcher's knife on the knife sharpener. He is wearing a tie, vest and a large aporn. CONDITION: The backfround is dark but the image is clear, facial features are clear. The left top and bottom corner are slightly broken off. At knee level there are some dark lines across the apron to the edge. At bottom below his feet are 5 slight pin size pricks from back to front. These do not detract from the appearance. The back is solid black with several water spots on it. It is 2 inches wide by 3.5 inches long.
