Case is 9 ¾” high x 7 ¾” wide. The cover has a simple inscribed rectangle with small darts pointing into the corners; the back is without decoration. This is a characteristic type of 1840’s design. The inside cover is plush red velvet. The back has two offset compartments. The left ½ plate shows a mother with her daughter leaning against her. The girl holds a small dog (live or stuffed?) The right ½ plate shows father with a younger child . The unique [?] case is in excellent condition.
