OUTSTANDING AMERICAN MINIATURE ON IVORY PLUS. Lot of 5 related items. Including an outstanding American miniature on ivory dated 1814. This oval double-sided (2 individual pieces) ivory is mounted in an unmarked gold frame with pendant mount. Front has clasped hands with lace sleeves above a globe with dove carrying olive branch and "Peace On Earth" inscribed on globe. Above hands are 3 winged cherubim head and inscription above "Good Will Towards Men." Cover glass has eglomisé border in black with gilt inscription "March 25th P.G. Chinnery Lodge No. 10, 1814." Reverse painting is even nicer with wonderful landscape with 3 young women; one woman at left in blue e dress holds a tablet that reads the Biblical quote "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth" and "Jon XIX Vs 25." The woman in center, in red leans on anchor, while woman at right in yellow has 3 small children, 2 cupids above with ribbon banner that reads "To The Elycian Gate." Rear cover is hinged and glass cracked. Other items include a 6th plate daguerreotype of the owner, signed in matt, "C. Evens Philad."; PLUS a 9th plate tintype of a young man in Union type case; a folio 1/2 leather bound periodical entitled "The Plow Boy," Vol. 1, Albany 1820; PLUS a copper wheel-engraved Pittsburgh goblet bowl (stem missing) with Masonic symbols; a nearly destroyed San Francisco Express Office check dated 1852; AND a manuscript letter sheet by one Charles Dulton, mentioning the above miniature, dated 1853. <p>Shipping. Shipment generally occurs within one week after payment has been received. Payment with a money order or bank draft expedites this process. We prefer to ship via UPS or Federal Express, and unless absolutely necessary, will not ship to a P.O. Box. For this reason, please provide a street address for our shipper. It will expedite your receipt of your purchase.
<p>Shipping Framed Items. We will happily ship any framed items with the glass intact, and smaller items present no problems. You should know, however, that packaging charges for large pieces shipped with the glass will be substantial. Consider letting us remove the item from its frame and shipping it with the frame less the glass. You’ll save money in the long run.
<p>By the same token, you will also save money if you don’t want the frame. Many times the frame is hardly worthy of the item, is damaged, or downright ugly. We’ll be happy to offer our opinions, we often remove items from frames for successful buyers!.
<p>Shipping Charges. Successful bidders are required to pay for all shipping, insurance and handling charges. Your purchases are valuable, sometimes irreplaceable, and important. We cannot, and will not skimp on making certain they reach you safely. You should be aware that for larger/and/or valuable items, shipping charges can be substantial.
We will be happy to ship smaller items in a priority mail box. These packages work fine for small, flat items such as carte de visite and printed ephemera. We are reluctant, however to use them for larger dimensional items or for high value lots. In general, only lots valued under $500 will be shipped in this form of packaging.
<p>THERE WILL BE A MINIMUM SHIPPING AND HANDLING CHARGE OF $6.00 FOR ANY LOT SENT IN A PRIORITY MAIL BOX.
<p>USPS insurance is figured at $1.80 per $100 value, and, any package valued at more than $600 should be sent registered; this will add to your charges.
All lots not sent in a priority mail box are processed by our independent shipper. Brad works on a “per box” basis. Since UPS often raises a stink about damaged goods where used outer packing material is employed, all outer boxing is new. All lots are packaged with new interior bubble wrap, newsprint paper or cardboard sheeting. While Brad primarily uses new materials for inner packing, he sometimes recycles.
Beyond the cost of the packaging supplies, insurance and shipping charges are added, along with a handling fee. In order to give you some idea of the costs that WE incur when shipping your items, we have included the following table illustrating the actual UPS shipping charges for a five pound package, sent standard ground transportation from Cincinnati, Ohio to various destinations:

<p>Remember, these are shipping charges only, and DO NOT reflect, insurance, packaging and handling! UPS charges insurance at a rate of .35 cents per $100 dollar value.
If you have a FED EX or similar overnight delivery account, we’ll be happy to ship via these services. Simply supply us with your account number, and we’ll expedite your shipping. Because we will still incur handling and packaging expenses for this service, however, you will still be charged a nominal fee.

<p>Registration. All bidders must register their name, permanent street address (no P.O. Boxes please), phone number prior to the auction. In addition, absentee bidders unknown to us must register a valid Visa or Mastercard number.
<p>Terms of Sale. The Highest bidder for each lot shall be the buyer, and if any dispute arises as to any bidding, or between two or more bidders, at the sole discretion of the auctioneer, the disputed lot shall be put up again at the last undisputed bid and resold.
<p>Buyer’s Premium. Successful bidders shall pay the hammer price of each lot, plus a 13%, added on buyer’s premium.
<p>Payment. Gallery bidders must pay for their purchases at the time of the sale. Payment may be made with cash, traveler’s check, or good bank check with two forms of identification. Absentee bidders will be invoiced immediately after the sale, and are required to pay for their purchases immediately upon receipt of the invoice.
<p>Institutional billing is available, and should be arranged prior to the sale.
<p>Sales Tax. All buyer’s present in the auction gallery must pay a 6% Ohio and Hamilton County sales tax. Buyer’s with a valid resale number are exempt from this tax, as are out-of-state buyers not present at the sale.
<p>Reserves. Most lots offered without reserve. In the case of those reserved items, the Seller has authorized the Auctioneer to bid in his behalf until the reserve price is reached.
<p>Limited Warranty. The auctioneer assumes no responsibility for correct descriptions or defects in any lot, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. All lots are offered AS IS. The material is available for inspection prior to the auction, and we are happy to provide detailed condition reports about any lot. Make certain you are satisified with our descriptions before you bid! All sales are final, with no returns of refunds.
<p>The auctioneer, does, however, make limited warranty concerning the authenticity of any lot for a period of one year. If a Buyer is not satisfied that the item they have purchased is genuine, they may, at their expense, obtain the opinion of two mutually agreed upon recognized experts in the field of the disputed lot. If these experts determine the item is not genuine, the Buyer’s sole remedy under the auctioneer’s warranty shall be the rescission of the sale and refund of the original price paid for the item. This remedy shall be exclusive in lieu of any other remedy which might otherwise be available to the Buyer as a matter of law. No Buyer shall be entitled to damage of any kind.

<p>Estimates. Pre-sale estimates of the expected hammer price of each lot are provided for the convenience of prospective bidders. In most cases, they do not represent reserves. Bidders are encouraged to bid what they feel an item is worth.

<p>Signatures: All artworks are unsigned unless specifically noted otherwise.
<p>Dimensions of Artwork: All dimensions are in inches, with the height
preceeding the width. Dimensions in the catalog refer to the artwork only
and do not include the frame. "Sight" size refers to the total viewable area
of a framed artwork. "Sheet" size refers to the size of the paper on which a
drawing, watercolor, gouache or print has been executed. "Image" size refers
