OSWALD POHL
(1892 - 1951) Head of the Economic Office of the SS and ultimate overseer of the concentration camp system. It was Pohl who turned his victims' dental gold, eyeglasses, hair, etc. into cash for the SS, using the infamous "Max Heiliger" Swiss accounts. Captured and executed in 1951. Rare A.N.S. penned while being held on charges at Landsberg Prison, 1p. 5 3/4" x 2 3/4", in German. In full: "Thankful [?] for Christmas and New Year's 1951 Oswald Pohl Landsberg-Lech W.C.P.". Fine. In 1950, Pohl's reconversion to Catholicism resulted in the appearance of his book "Credo. Mein Weg zu Gott". ("Credo. My way to God"), published with permission of the Catholic Church. Pohl was hanged shortly after midnight on June 8, 1951 at Landsberg Prison.
