In Pater-Noster-Row, 1725FIRST (ONLY) EDITION, 64-pages, 8vo, recent paper wrapper : heavy brown stain on the extreme fore-edges of some leaves, otherwise a very good copy. Kress 3588. Goldsmiths’ 6407. An historical examination, evidently by a professional, of the laws and customs posed by orphans, followed by suggestions for reform, particularly regarding the laws governing executors, testamentary guardians, and trustees, with an emphasis on questions of education and the maintenance of economic security.ALSO WITH THIS LOT: (1) JAMES II, King of England. Dedicated to the Right Honourable the Lord Townley. The Fourth edition. Printed for R. Walker, at the White-Hart, without Temple-Bar ; and sold by all booksellers … (1729). Pages 30 and advertisement leaf, with the half-title, 8vo, recent wrapper : a very good copy. Dedication signed ' Tom Tell-Truth', pseudonym of F. G. Pless? Dated at end : Nov. 30. 1729(3) IRELAND. The state of Ireland, laid open to the view of his majesty's subjects. Dublin printed ; London reprinted, for J. Bouquet, at the White Hart in Pater-noster-Row, 1754. Pages (2), 74, wanting half-title and advert leaf at end, 8vo, recent wrapper : very good. "Includes economic and commercial information." - Higgs 6592. His entry 815 attributes authorship to C. Nicholson. No edition in Kress. An attack on the Duke of Dorset and Primate Stone, etc. One of a number of editions, and the only one, so it seems, with the name of Bouquet in the imprint : the other London editions simply read ‘Printed in the year ...’(4) STANHOPE ( Philip Dormer ), Earl of Chesterfield. An apology for a late resignation : in a letter from an English gentleman to his friend at the Hague. The second edition, corrected. Printed for John Freeman, next St. Paul's. [1748]. Pages 46, (2, blank), 8vo, recent paper wrapper : a very good to nice copy. A reimpression, with some changes : see Gulick 311. On his resignation as Secretary of State, attributed by Horace Walpole to the Earls of Chesterfield and Marchmont in collaboration.
