ORIGINAL JOHN F. KENNEDY ASASSINATION NEWSWIRE. Wire service account of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. This account was saved by a radioman on the USS Mt. McKinley. This account begins with one of the first accounts, indicating that a shot had been fired from a nearby building (the Texas Repository) and then is interrupted with three lines labeled "Flash" followed by "President Kennedy Dead." As news becomes more firm, the wire reports that Connelly was shot, and gives news of the trip to the hospital, the transfer of power to Johnson, the capture of Oswald and more. A fascinating wire. Auction records of these similar wires suggest a steady demand! Wire in three pieces, first with loss of paper at margins, none greatly affecting text. We have not measured the total length, but would guess about 20-25. PLEASE NOTE: THIS LOT WILL BE SOLD ON EBAY LIVE AUCTIONS BETWEEN 5:00-6:00pm EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME ON MAY 10, 2002.
