AN ORIGINAL 19TH CENTURY SIGNED STERLING SILVER DRAGON TEA SET<p>A magnificent and rare original 19th century sterling silver dragon tea set, including a teapot with original lid, a sugar with original lid, and a creamer. The body of each piece is encircled by a dragon in high relief amidst swirling clouds in lower relief. All dragons and designs in the silver are hand chased. The knobs on top of the teapot and sugar represent the pearl of wisdom. The teapot is approximately six inches in height and seven inches from the tip of the spout to the outer point of the handle. The creamer is double-walled in silver. The interior of the teapot has a permanently affixed silver filter for tea leaves. Each of the three pieces bears an incised seal by the artist. This set was created in the late 1800's. Condition is excellent. <p>THE DRAGON IN JAPANESE ART - The dragon in Japan is an ancient symbol of power, heavenly knowledge and imperial strength.
