GF5c at the Bar. Fine. Located on C and North Streets, the Norton House was a very well- known hotel in Portland. The brick hotel was built in 1876 by Patrick Norton, a proprietor and long time Portland resident, Patrick had experience in hotel management, and the hotel proved successful. Advertisements for the hotel could be seen in the Morning Oregonian for many years. Norton soon died in 1880 from paralysis at the age of 49. [U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index. 1880.
