This is one of the most desirable designs that were made in the 18th century for the inauguration of George Washington, the first President and Father of this country. This example is known as the "Linked States Border" example, as it shows the 13 original colonies initials encircled, linked, and bordering the central design of LONG LIVE THE PRESIDENT AND THE INITAILS GW. We show you in the images of the front, side view and the back with the braised on shank intact. 34 mm stamped 1-piece brass button with shank.. Reverse plain. Commemorating the inauguration of George Washington in 1789. Albert WI-4A. Purchased in the 1990's by the late Jeff Lee from the late Warren Tice author of several books on buttons and known for his expertise in these type buttons.
