September 5, 1927-Large 61" x 17.5" B & W of a gathering for the UMWA, titled "United Mine Workers of America, Labor Day Celebration, Glouster Ohio Sept. 5th, 1927." The panorama shows a very large crowd in a baseball park, stretching from the outfield back to the grandstands. The photographers were J.T. And Geo. B. Murphy & Co. of Columbus OH. The UMWA was founded in 1890 in Columbus OH by a merger of the Knights of Labor Trade Assembly #135 and National Progressive Union of Miners & Mine Workers. The UMWA has a long and tumultuous history. This photo has some cracking from being rolled and straightened. The heavy wood frame and glass have mostly flattened the photo, but the cracks are evident. The photo`s clarity is excellent. HKA#64611
