1949-The Ball Watch Company contracted out to other watch companies to produce watches that Ball would declare Official RR timepieces. This particular watch is a Ball Official Standard made by Hamilton. The slogan of the Ball company was "Carry a Ball and time them all!" and the company is famous for having set the standards for the American Railroad watch. This particular timepiece is a 16 size, 21 jeweled open face watch in a 14k white gold filled case. The single sunk white enamel dial features bold black arabic numerals and hash marks in the hour chapter. The seconds dial is marked in black arabic numerals and hash marks in 10-second intervals. The face is marked "Ball/ Official Standard/ Cleveland." The hands area heavy black (spade and whips). The hole in the bow is typical of Ball watches. Stem wind, lever set. The case is finely detailed around the edges with an organic motif. The interior of the rear case indicates "Ball/ Official RR Standard/ Keystone/ Watch Case/ J. Boss/ 14K/ Gold Filled". The demaskeened 3/4 plate movement is nickel/silver plated and black lettering indicates "6/ Positions/ Adjusted/ Ball/ Watch Co./ Cleveland, Ohio/ Trade Mark/ Official Standard/ 999 B/ 21/ Jewels". All gold train. The movement serial number is 1B15246, dating the watch to 1949. HKA#64608
