OGLALLAH SIOUX WOMAN BY ALEXANDER GARDNER. Albumen photograph, 5 x 7.5" mounted on larger board. Original negative likely by Alexander Gardner, taken during a visit of a treaty delegation in 1872; printed later by the Bureau of American Ethnology and sold to the Rookwood Pottery of Cincinnati, Ohio. Purchased from Rookwood when the company moved in the early 1960s. With their typed strip label on recto and handstamp on verso. Three small glue spots on print to left; mount with surface dirt.
