BEERSTECHER. Cal. 44 rifled bore / 50 smooth bore. NSN. Bbl. 34 1/2", stamped “F. BEERSTECHER / LEWISBURG, PA” on top flat. Overall length 50". Frederick Beerstecher, famous for his multishot firearms, while in Lewisburg, PA produced this O/U gun. Back action percussion locks are not signed or engraved & locks have dbl. set triggers. Stock has a brass capbox, an unusual feature is a wooden 15" forestock under the bbls. Beerstecher was located in Philadelphia, PA until 1848 when he relocated to Lewisburg, until 1856. He is famous for his superposed load Derringers & rifles. CONDITION: 3" stress crack beginning at the trigger guard on the forestock. Shows signs of heavy usage, but is clean & original throughout.
