O`KEEFFE, GEORGIA
(1887 - 1986) American painter and wife of Alfred Stieglitz, she was a leading artist of the twentieth century whose paintings were devoted to abstract floral forms, desert terrain and animal skulls. Rare A.L.S. "Georgia O'Keeffe", 1+p. 4to., Abioquin, NM, Feb. 7, 1950 to Charles Daniel. She writes, in part: "…I have your letter and have sent it on to Marin…speak with young John Marin first. I heard some time back that old John Marin wasn't so well. He may be alright now. Get your pictures from him…" She adds in her postscript: "Give my greetings to the Ocean!". Folds, else near fine. Painter John Marin had a strong influence of O'Keeffe, and the two often had their works exhibited together. Sold with an 8" x 10" photo showing O'Keeffe on the beach at Fire Island in 1948, accompanied by a signature of the photographer, GEORGE DANIELL. Three pieces.
