This is a great Nun doll. The label on the bottom of the base says ...This doll is an original Saraff Character authentically designed and made entirely by hand. Monastic Doll Little Sister of the Poor.
Then someone has written Bot. Nov. 16, 1945 Grace Fenton Danville, Illinois $4.50
The head is made of some kind of plaster or composition material. It might even be some kind of pottery, I just don't know. The features are a decal that looks like paint. I'm sure it is varnished over. The outfit is all original. She has a regular set of rosary beads. There is some fade to the brown material but I think she is charming. The one hand is darker than the other. What a piece of history in this character. The legs are a tightly packed cloth painted over. Sorry, I don't know more about her, but if you can love her, please bid. She is from a smoke free environment. Buyer to pay $15 for U.S. shipping, insurance, and handling. Thanks for viewing.
