Materials generally well preserved, with many letters having their original mailing envelopes present. A wonderful archive of letters received by Coin World editor Margo Russell from a wide variety of numismatic personalities and governmental officials. Russell developed close personal friendships with a number of Mint, Treasury and White House officials whom she met in purely professional contexts, most notably Mint Directors Eva Adams and Mary Brooks, but also including Bay Buchanan and Walter Tkach. Few people receive letters from Congressmen beginning, "You are a jewel," and fact that Russell had Mint Directors closing their letters with "love you," indicates the esteem in which she was held. The letters from Brooks and Adams are especially interesting, as they became and remained friends with Russell for years. One of the items from Eva Adams is a poem written on Russell's retirement: the first poem by a Mint Director we recall offering! A remarkably wide-ranging lot of letters, cards, signed dollar bills, etc.
