Numbered Edition of Les Amis de la France
Numbered Edition of Les Amis de la France Dans Le Monde (Paris: Les Amis de la France Dans Le Monde, 1939), first edition, 335 pages, cream cloth with gilt titles, a gold medallion in the center of the front cover, and a red, white & blue ribbon at the bottom of same, folio (11" x 15"), glassine wrap, housed in an original issue gate-fold box with a title stamp on the front and a red, white & blue ribbon tie. Numbered 27 of 500 first edition copies. A bookplate for previous owner Herbert Claiborne Pell, Jr. is affixed to the front pastedown. Pell was a Congressman from New York and one of the main proponents for the United Nations War Crimes Commission after World War II. Additionally, the book has been specially presented to Pell, evidenced by a stamp on the colophon / copyright page and a gift inscription by B. Bielski and Paul Reboux (presumably the publishers) on the front flyleaf. The glassine cover shows wear, and has slightly discolored the boards in spots, and the book shows mild edge wear, else very good.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
