Russell Sage. Illinois, 1868. A stock certificate for the St. Louis, Alton and Terre Haute Railroad Company for 100 shares issued to and signed by financier Russell Sage on the verso. Small but detailed vignette of a steam locomotive pulling some passenger cars. Pen and punch cancelled, though not affecting Sage's dark autograph. It is in fine condition overall.
