Note Number 5729 for £8.18.6 issued to Lebbeus Qui. Signed by Qui with his “X” mark. Lebbeus Qui, alternately Quy, was a free black from Norwich. He enlisted in 1776 and again in 1780, serving until 1782. Qui is listed as Norwich’s only official black pensioner of the Revolutionary War.
