Introduced in 1842, the Kammerlader (Breech loader) was the first breech loading percussion rifle to be adopted as a primary arm by a European nation, and would remain in service until 1867. Blade front sight and 2 leaf folding rear sight, with a bayonet lug on the left side of the muzzle and 3 brass barrel bands. Underhammer action, with crack operated breechblock. Smooth straight grip stock, with sling swivels and a flat brass buttplate.

Condition: Very good. A smooth gray patina shows on most of the steel components, with spotting and some brown streaking on the barrel. Some parts have mixed or altered numbers. Stock is also very good, with filler and pins ahead of the wrist, repaired chip at the toe, and scattered scratches and pressure dents. Mechanically excellent.
