Stone meteorite, chondrite L3–6. Northwest Africa, found 2000. Polished end cut with abundant chondruleswe weighing 391.8 grams and measuring 130 mm x 97 mm x 23 mm. The finished face of this NWA 869 end cut displays numerous multi-billion-year-old chondrules—the building blocks of the rocky bodies of the solar system. It contains multiple and varied examples of the oldest remnants of our own solar system and the face also shows an abundance of tiny, extraterrestrial nickel-iron flecks. The exterior of the masses show remnant fusion crust and a red figure “F” has been painted on the exterior and this is likely a field note, perhaps the initial of the original finder.
