Intriguing spiral-bound period copies of Northrop memos and documents related to the "Octave II First Flight" and "Project 25," circa 1949, with "Secret" struck through on the first several pages. The first page proposes a March 1949 date and pertinent information for the "first Octave II flight using the stars Sirius and Capella." The documents go on to outline various scheduling and procedural matters for the first and future flights, and reproductions of handwritten notes are contained in the back. These notes include a draft for speech discussing the Octave II, describing it as gear "conceived, constructed, and tested by Northrop Aircraft's Project 25, which is the Guidance and Control section of Air Forces Project MX-775." In fine condition, with sunning to the blue covers. Notably, little information appears to be publicly available about this once-secret "Octave II" project, which seems to be related to the celestial navigation systems developed for the Snark and Boojum missiles.
